We are going to be featuring some of the vendors we love to work with and recommend to our brides.
This can help provide some insight on the owners of the business as well as some tips for you along the way.
This blog is featuring some questions and answers with Tamara from In-Style Weddings & Events
|Q: When did you know you wanted to do Décor for weddings and events?
A: I didn’t actually. I started in corporate event planning and back then decor wasn’t really on the radar. As times changed and I started event planning on my own – I shifted to decor as it became more available and seemed a better fit for my company.
Q: How long have you been in business?
A: 14 years
Q: What is the biggest struggle with being in the Décor business?
A: That people don’t seem to understand the amount of time it takes to prep, install, tear down, and cleanup an event.
Q: What are the Décor trends for 2016? Still blush and burlap? Or is that on it’s way out?
A: Vintage/rustic will be here for a while. Anything bling is also still popular but for my clients their “trend” if you will is to think outside the box to ensure their decor echoes their personalities. This past year we designed a Tim Burton themed wedding as well as Batman theme. The year before – Harry Potter and Doctor Who
Q: What would be your ideal client?
A: Wedding or Coorporate. That’s a difficult question. Corporate because I am usually given the opportunity to create a look that is very bold and different yet I love weddings for the simple fact I have more opportunity to connect with my client.
Q: How much does the average décor cost for a wedding?
A: About $2000 before centrepieces and flowers.
Q: What if the hall where they are getting married has décor packages, but doesn’t include some things they want that you have, how do the bride and groom work with that? Extra cost to have you come in from the hall?
A: Many of the venues we work with refer us to clients BECAUSE we offer the “icing on the cake”. Adding chair sashes, runners, a pop of colour here and there. We can add small touches to existing decor.
Q: You offer destination wedding décor, what is the cost for that? Do you have to go down with them, or can they take and then bring back with them?
A: For destination weddings I work with award winning photographer Allison of Your Captured Moments. The client will hire both of us to fly down with them. I then put out any of their DIY items, work with their co-ordinator, we add chair sashes, runners, tablecloths. We can’t do everything we do here but pretty close.
